Melodie A. Rivas was working in customer service when she was offered a job at a family member’s law firm. Melodie decided to make a real career change that would turn that job into a partnership by enrolling in Abraham Lincoln University’s online Juris Doctor degree program.
Graduating in 2012 as ALU School of Law’s class valedictorian, Melodie applies what she learned in the online classroom when she assists clients with legal issues every day in her practice. Distance learning enabled Melodie to work full time and to build her reputation in the local legal community while she was studying.
Melodie passed the California Bar Exam on her first attempt. She is a partner at Mueller & Mueller, where she predominately handles felony cases. Melodie is a member of the San Luis Obispo Bar Association, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the California Public Defender’s Association, and the American Bar Association.
“Abraham Lincoln University is designed for people like me. I needed the opportunity to accomplish my studies online and ALU helped me to obtain a law degree that turned my job into a career.”
